A Bridal Shower For Jordan
Going to Houston for the day we leave early on Saturday March 21, 2009 we four.
It were to be three, Brenda, Jordan and me with coaxing Trey gave his Saturday away and a game of golf too; he is our chauffer of the day. We felt privileged and proud to have him escort us on this trip knowing the highways and byways of freeways to Kingwood from Corpus Christi, Texas.
There are appointments to make for dress alterations for Mother of the bride and his daughter, a most precious Bride to Be on this striking but foggy morning; it is of dense fog down on the highway before the fog breaks to begin gorgeous skies of blue with warmth as only we can appreciate in south Texas. The spring flowers are popping we are seeing the landscapes the trees budding leaves breaking forth to our delight.
Breakfast treats of eggs, sausage biscuits etc at What a Burger are ordered to go as Trey fills the tank of pricey gasoline and we enjoy as ladies enjoy the ride heading north east on state highway 59 to make Houston by ten o’clock a first appointment; it is for Brenda’s fitting. Gaining to be close enough for this one we are treated for an iced Latte sharing a chocolate chip cookie our choice that is Jordan and me. The treats are on Brenda and Trey; they choose a drink and a cookie too. If ever I will find the spot again for that luscious iced Latte; it had been many years since I enjoyed this drink.
Not to reveal anything secret I will only speak of how perfect for Brenda; she is stunning in her choice color an elegant design “mother of the bride” dress. Having seen Jordan’s previously I could not help the exclamations of “Beautiful, Gorgeous, and Perfect in every way” for you the Bride, Jordan, I speak out to her.
We have arrived Kingwood TX and the Italian restaurant there in the neighborhood. Trey, my son leaves us his passengers looking for a television in a sports bar to enjoy final four basketball game and lunch with entertainment. He will return for us pick up Brenda’s dress to take it home this trip while Jordan must return another day for her completed altered dress.
We are greeted with hugs and smiles to take your heart into a leap at joyous meetings and introductions to the Parkers relatives and friends. A particular treat is to meet Austin; he is younger brother to Bryan, our groom; also I look to meet Bryan’s Grannies on this occasion before the wedding in Corpus.
Spectacular were the decorations requested by the hostess; she was proud for this shower décor was just that and “beyond beautiful”. I exclaim seeing choices to make this one of a kind shower luncheon.
Unmentioned above is the menu serving wine, stuffed mushroom ordure’s, tossed green salad, main courses to choose shrimp or chicken. A decorated cake with white icing of strawberry made into flowers topped on it is one of the many times Jordan and Bryan names are used. Hostess gifts for everyone to take when leaving are boxed described to be Jordan’s Almonds, on this same table lay napkins of white pink lettering, matchboxes were spoken of as Bryan’s Matches.
We all enjoyed this well thought out display of balloons and table décor of stacked gift boxed center pieces gracing our tables from the hostess. These center pieces are sitting purposely for attention; they are trimmed with ribbons and feathers a covering for her wedding gifts are enclosed. She tells Jordan she is to take home to open them with Bryan; this is so special.
All other gifts were opened for activity enjoyment. People had a lengthy stay to visit before leaving the shower and restaurant for their destinations. Gigi and others were relatives who travel from San Antonio spending the night at a nearby motel. I especially had enjoyment with her seated next to me. Laughter and conversations for ladies only are spent with Gigi; I look forward to meeting her at the wedding.
Thanks to all and I believe this makes for a wedding gives us the personal appeal to be acquainted is this unique occasion set up for the future date of May 30, 2009 in Corpus Christi Country Club for wedding and reception there. You will know the lovely bride and excited groom, Jordan Tollett and Bryan Parker as the Pastor Henry Hastings of Georgia announces their introductions to all present. At the close of the marriage service saying “I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Parker!”
